Spinandspell.com has given us several activities idea for ESL kids.
A Food Listening and Spelling Activity
The “What We Eat” activity allows kids to choose from a wide range of foods.
- After clicking on a food, the students get to hear the vocabulary’s pronunciation.
- Students click on letters to eventually spell the entire word. As they click on each letter they will hear the name of the letter they just clicked on.
- After selecting all the letters, the student then clicks the “submit” button.
- If the spelling is correct they will hear, “Very Good!”
Suggested teaching activities:
- When modeling this to the class, have the kids say the food items and letters before actually clicking them.
- Remember that this site has other activity topics, including animals.
- As usual, send this website home allowing kids to practice with their parents.
